Introducing Assemble, a new section from Hole & Corner highlighting emerging talents and trends in creativity, innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship. The future starts here…FOCUSAesop Brass Oil Burner A first for skincare brand Aesop, the Brass Oil Burner, designed by Studio Henry Wilson, sees the brand delve into the world of product design for interiors. Intended to infuse a space with scent (it recommends its new Béatrice Oil Burner Blend, of course), the burner is a typically elegant piece of design, cast from solid brass using an ancient lost wax casting process, and entirely in keeping with the brand’s sophisticated, understated aesthetic. (There is a relevance to this process, incidentally – it ensures that each vessel has its own character and brass patina, which is designed to evolve over time.)Henry Wilson has a good pedigree with Aesop, having already designed two of its signature stores. He explains that the amorphic, asymmetric shape of the object (which weighs in at 1kg) was inspired by ‘the imperfect nature and process of casting molten metal, while the soft edges and quiet forms are intended to cradle the heat and invite a gentle intrigue’. £120; aesop.comPHOTOGRAPH RICHARD FOSTER
